The Feel Of The Rainbow

Before you were a christian, ever wonder why the rainbow gives you a soothing, happy feeling?

I believe we see God smiling at us when we see the rainbow. Cos God is light (1 John 1:5) and so the rainbow is a representation of Him. Every description of the rainbow can be used to describe Him. For example, He is big. He is also beautiful, calm, happy, bright and wonderful in all ways.

Thank God for the rainbow.

Secure yourself in the arms of God

I suddenly have a urge to share this and perhaps a reminder to myself too.

There are times our mind, especially our temper can get messed up. I've learnt that this only happens when we allow it to.

So during times of trouble, learn to praise and thank God instead of giving in to anger. Cos once you allow it to affect your mind, you'll be in for a treat of mind-struggles and sometimes self-condemnation.

When it's too late and you already affected, find Jesus. E.g. Go to someone who you know will talk to you about Him and His love. Listen to sermons talking abt the Gospel, abt Jesus etc. Concentrate on God and God will take care of the rest.

In other words, like a child would say "I go tell my mummy!", when you feel you have been bullied, run back home and tell your Father God. God will make it right for you in His special ways.

Let us learn to lean on God more and more. Shoo the negative thoughts away using His love.

DVD: Interview with Dr Nasir Siddiki

Sofia lent me a DVD a few days ago. It's an interview Pastor Benny Hinn had with Dr Nasir Siddiki in the 'This Is Your Day' broadcasted on Sep 08 2004.

It's abt how Dr Nasir, a muslim then, who had developed shingles (pic) received a miracle healing from Jesus. Now he is completely healed, received Christ, and working as a prosperity preacher and teacher for God.

The interview later on turned into a preaching and sharing of the keys to prosperity. All these keys were taken from the Bible. Overall you see two men of God enjoying and sharing the love of God.

Thank God for Sofia and the DVD.

Fun Thought: 'Siddiki' rhymes with 'Sedikit'. 'Sedikit' means 'little'. Paul's name also means 'little'. Is it a coincidence? Or is it one of God's patterns?

Church Camp Finally!

I will be at Putrajaya IOI Resort from June 6 to June 10.

The meeting pt will be at Clementi MRT station on Monday at 7am. Which means I have to wake up at around 5:30am! I pray that everything will go smoothly and my clothes wil dry in time for packing.

This time round the theme is BenGen. We are going to learn how to be a Yahkid (independent single depending everything on God). There will be a japanese dress up nite too. I can't wait to put on my street clothes and act punk! hahaha...

Anyway the most important is to absorb the Word. I believe this camp will be beneficial to my christian walk. I expect to swim in a pool of blessings and revelations.

So wait for my photos yah? I'll make sure you wished you had come. heeheeehee... ; )

Choosing Between Two Trees

Earlier this evening I was with a friend for dinner. She had a quarrel with her boyfriend(whom I've met before) and was complaining to me about it. She told me she needs space and does not want to speak to him for the time being. She even deliberately left her handphone at home so that she does not have to answer it.

Sure enough, the boyfriend called me. He was anxious and paranoid and asked if she was with me. My immediate response was no. He began to explain why he was trying to contact her. After I repeatedly promised him that I will pass the message, I managed to end the call. I then saw the relief on my friend's face.

I know I had lied. It's not a godly thing to do. Some might think it's small matter but I know a lie is a lie. It makes me realise how much God loves me and why people needs God. Thank God for Jesus who has took my sins away therefore there is no condemnation on me.

Remember how strong Pastor's attitude was towards the topic of lying? He said he would not tolerate any staff who can lie. It made me think. Is he only pointing out those who constantly lie or everyone one of us? Cos from time to time we, as humans will be tempted to lie. I mean if we can be perfect, why would God send his Son to die for us?

During last church camp I remember there was a teenage boy who asked Pastor during a Q&A session what one should do if it's a life and death situation. Pastor's immediate response was to be honest. The boy continued to give examples of situations then Pastor kinda cut him off with his stand at the topic. He told the boy God would not put us in those situations. I wanted to agree with him yet has struggles over it. His words made me think of Rahab - the woman who lied to save 2 spies. I know God would have a way to save the spies should Rahab tell the truth. Yet God cause the writer to list down this deed in the bible.

I understand the situation I was in was different from Rahab. I still love our Pastor. I just wanted to bring the topic out. We all know because of the Spirit in us what is the right thing to do. However if you were in the same situation as I today, what would you choose at that nick of time? Would you prefer to tell the boyfriend that his girlfriend was with you but does not want to speak to him?

I had this sore in my throat for the past few days that would hurt whenever I swallow. I had prayed over it, believing for healing is already mine and I was waiting for it to manifest.

The pain was bearable but annoying. So I tried to numb it by taking Strepsils' lozenges. There was progress but it was kinda slow.

Last night, towards midnight, I was in a cloudy mood. You know, no energy and all...I was preparing to go to bed when God prompted me to listen to last year's church camp's sermons. I picked one of the session and behold! the sermon was abt power of praying in tongues.

Now, the moment I know what the topic was, I start praying. However I could not continue to pray more than a few seconds. So I just shut my mouth and listen to the sermon. After i finished listening, I feel refreshed but as I was tired physically, I went to bed,

This morning, when I wake up, the sore is gone! Immediately I raise my thumb towards God. "WOW!" I said and thank God for this manifestation.

I guess Jesus really mean it when he say this one thing is needful. So brothers and sisters... dun play a fool ah...this is serious matter... : )

Sowing

During the women's meeting, I've learnt about sowing.

The speakers, Pauline(Deacon Chin's wife) and Karen shared about how God blessed them as they sow - How they gave and received a double portion.

What is sowing? From what I've I understand so far, it's about giving(to other people) in the areas of your need. If you need a car, you sow into someone else's car. If you need finanicial help in your wedding, sow into someone else's wedding etc.

Pauline and Karen also shared that sometimes these things don't happen immediately but they definitely will cos it's one of God's ways of blessing you.

Their testimonies have encouraged me to sow. It felt strange at first. Cos I've heard Pastor Prince touched on sowing tons of times yet the words didn't drop into my heart. I remember the frequently used verse that says when you sow bountifullly, you will reap bountifully. Frankly that verse didn't impact on me much.

So today, I decided to dig deeper. Now here's one that really tickles my heart:

2Cor 9:1 (NLT) "Yes, you will be enriched so that you can give even more generously. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will break out in thanksgiving to God."

My thoughts went to the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. I thank God I don't have to find a magic bean and climb all the way to heaven to receive his blessings.

Through Jesus's poverty at the cross, we have already been made rich. I believe the seeds of the riches are already inside of me, given by Him. All I need now is someone whom I can sow each of the seeds to. After that just let God take care of its growth.

If you are still confused, just remember the 12 basketfuls leftovers of bread and fishes. Do you think the leftovers miracle was created when Jesus thank God for the food or when the disciples distribute them to the people?

When God Transforms You, It's Effortless

Have you ever been reprimanded for not holding your chopsticks properly?
I haven't. Well not until I was over 22.

One evening last year, My boss took me and my colleagues, along with a few managers from our Japan branch office to Jumbo Restaurant. I had trouble picking up a fried scallop with my chopsticks so I got nervous and just poked through the scallop and quickly drop it into my bowl.

Now one of the Japanese managers saw that and casually remarked that back where he came from, a father would smack the child's hand when that happened. At that moment I felt soooo embarrassed. I responsed with a smile. This incident has became one of those memories I know would stick forever.

I've got similar remarks before but this time I couldn't brush it away. From then on, I tell myself to learn how to hold chopsticks properly. Yet the more I put my mind to it, the harder it is. So I gave up eventually. It's strange that I didn't think of praying over the matter. Yet I guess He heard a groan from me.

I don't know when it start happening, I believe it's a few weeks ago, my fingers started adjusting themselves. I was holding the chopsticks properly but I didn't notice it. When I did notice, I tried going back to my old way of holding them but it would feel uncomfortable. Bewilderment arose. Unconsiously, I have changed. God has changed me.

Later the same thing happened for holding a pen. I was taking down some notes today then a voice inside me tells me to look at my fingers and I saw them positioned properly (Like the pics above). This has never happened before.

Then it struck me that after the dinner incident, I have been placed at places to see new modern pens that will help you get better grip and 'force' your fingers to be in the right position. I did want to buy them at first but put that thought off after I calculated how MANY pens I have at home.

God can truly transform you without you notice it ah I tell you. Don't play play... ;-)

QT = Quality Time

Six years ago, on the night after I received Christ, I was told that I had to learn to participate in christian activities from then on. Activities like Attending church service, Witnessing, Evangelising, Fellowshipping, Bible Studying, Quiet Time and the list goes on and on. Thinking that doing these activities would please God, I participated blindly.

God impressed me to share about Quiet Time(or QT) here. QT to me at that time was like an extra lesson on top of my curriculum - meaning reading and studying some bible chapters alone in a quiet room. As time passed, I developed the idea that God, as well as my fellow chirstians at the campus would be displeased if I don't do QT. You see, in the cell grp I was in, they would always check upon you in this area.

Soon later I found QT tiring. I didn't like it. It frustrates me when I don't know what to write in my QT journal. Sometimes I just wrote something like, 'God forgive me. I don't know what to say today. Maybe I'll just write my prayers here'.

Some months went past. These "chores" increased and sometimes clashed with my schoolwork. At one point I got fed up and gave up on them altogether...including going to church.

Fast Forward to Year 2003: One day God gave me an itch to go to church. I obeyed and lined up outside the auditorium. To my surprise the church has transformed and grown a lot in terms of grace and maturity. The grace messages I received had set my heart free from condemnation (due to backsliding). I have attended the services since.

During one Sunday service God spoke to me about QT through Pastor Prince. Now this is how I see it: Everyone of us has diff levels, diff kinds of revelation/realization of Him and His love. People who enjoys QT has this revelation and wants to dig out more - a strong desire to find out more about God, His Son, His Love, His Sacrifice, His Blessings and His plan for us by studying the Word (along with study aids, complementaries etc).

There is no fixed method or how long one should spend in QT. The most common method perhaps is to do it in the morning cos often, if not everytime this will set your eyes upon Jesus and cos peace to manifest in your heart and mind for the rest of your day.

Fast Forward to Present: This phrase keep repeating in my mind this afternoon, "Quantity is not Quality". I feel God is telling me you can spend as short or as long time you want with the Word. The phrase 'Quiet Time' can be replaced with 'Quality Time'.

Let us look forward to the next opportunity to spend Quality Time with our Lord. Amen.

God Placed me at the Right Place at the Right Time

Last evening was so exciting and Holy Spirit filled for me.

While I was in the MRT on my way to Somerset, my friend sms me that she would be half an hour late for our dinner appointment. Because of this I knew I would be there 45 min early. I groaned.

Guess who heard me? I was exiting the gates at Somerset when a Mount Zion Bookshop sign caught my eye. I was quite surprised that I had never noticed it was there before. Feeling it's a good oportunity to spend the waiting time, I strolled my way into the shop. There, I found Benny Hinn's books. Currently there's a promotion going on - Buy one "The Lamb of God" ($25) and get one of Benny Hinn's other books (small booklets) free.

When I was paying at the counter, I asked the sales persons whether they know how to do the paper cross craft. Both ladies shook their heads. Excitement rose inside me. Without losing another second, I asked for a piece of paper then demonstrate the craft to them.

There was no other people in the shop so they didn't mind having me standing there. I do not know how to describe the emotions on their faces. They are simply overwhelmed.

After giving them the web link to the picture guide, I started to take my leave. I left with a new joy in my heart and 2 smiling ladies waving goodbye at me. I thank God for this small detour. It felt soooooo good.

When I look back, I know that God had prepared all this for me - leading me to small detours to bless others.

God is good. All the time. Don't you agree? (^-^)

THE CHURCH CAMP IS HERE!

This is one of the most exciting times of the year. The church is holding a camp at Marriot Hotel Kuala Lumpur from Jun 6(Mon) to Jun 10(Fri). At the moment the announcement was made to young adults cg only. Thank God for my sister Jerica (^-^) who shared this info.

Brief info: They are taking in only 800 singles who are 17 years old and above. No parents, no kids. Cost will be $450 per person, cheque payment only. I am going so I have asked David to help me issue a cheque. After that I'll fund transfer the money back to him.

This is the ONLY camp of the year.

In April, registration will be open to the main church(aka non young adult minstry member) and the following dates are available for sign up: 10th, 17th, and 24th.

Find a partner (same gender of course) . If you don't have anyone to pair with, not to worry, sign up anyway. The church will pair you up.

Do you remember the paper cross craft? Well, God popped an idea into my head. In order for the technique to reach out to more people, I've started to send the link to christian websites and other sources. To my surprise, the visits has reached 760 today and still increasing. Hallelujah!

A pastor once stated, "I always noticed that it was the adults who chose the children's hymn 'Jesus Loves Me' (for the children of course) during a hymn sing, and it was the adults who sang the loudest because I could see they knew it the best."

Drama in the Bible

In our times, more and more movie writers are injecting out-of-context events and phrases from the Holy Bible to make their stories more interesting and attractive. Watch Constantine and you'll know what I mean. Movies with these elements are often quite popular, which shows how much people yearns for God.

The best dramas exist in the Bible. The story of Abraham and his 2 women is a good example. Yesterday I came across one chapter in the Bible that astounded me. The whole chapter talks about a prince who raped his own sister and got himself murdered later. Interesting. We know that all Scripture is good for teaching. God didn't put that whole chapter there for nothing. This aroused my curiosity. The moral of the story is obvious but maybe for this one, I'll study deeper into it.

By the way, can you guess which chapter is it? (Hint: The murderer is one of the prince's brothers) :)

I came across this online game during the CNY holidays. You get to play a doctor who get to choose therapies for 3 soft-toy patients(a hippo, a crocodile and a sheep). These therapies can make the toys feel better or worse. The objective is to apply the right theraphies for each of these toys till they recover. A green bar on the checklist indicates the level of progress.

The only thing I don't like is that they don't have an ending. They just let you see the toys go off after they recover. If you leave the asylum and come back later, you might have to treat all 3 toys all over again. Overall easy to play and good time killer.

Although Google said it's only in the beta stage, most of the people I know already has a gmail account - A free 1000mb email account with some cool features like search engine for your emails. With the right software tools, you can even turn it to a online backup storage space.

Google randomly would send account holders invites(invitations) for them give to their friends so that they too can be part of the growing community. Today mine just got upgraded to 50 invites. So I want to share this with you my dear friends, anyone who wants one, email me or just drop me your name and email address in the comments box. ; )

**UPDATE** Deacon has replied me. He said he knew Mr Kaufman personally and has attended his sessions before. Deacon also said he will keep him in mind for future consideration.

Regarding the MOH meeting last nite, the part where Deacon touch on "choosing the right words to say", I would like to share with you about a motivation speaker.

His name is Mr Ron Kaufman, he provides training and seminars to the public and companies for example, the SIA airline. My company had invited him to present at our kickoff event last week and I find his presentation energetic and amazing. He touched on providing the right customer service, building good relationships with customers and colleagues and choosing the right words to use when serving the customers.

I felt his suggestions and methods are applicable to us servers. I am not sure whether NCC has held similar training/sessions for the servers before. If not, it would be great if we can have one once or twice a year.

6. Enter telephone number as the Consumer Reference Number

2. Enter PIN when prompted

Free Shuttle Bus on Dec 26's Service

Free Ferry Shuttle Service for the Indoor stadium.
1) One bus will be provided for servers. It will depart from Kallang MRT for Indoor Stadium at 2.45pm to 3.45pm.
2) There will be transport provided from Kallang MRT to Indoor Stadium at 3.45pm to 5.00pm and from Indoor Stadium to Kallang MRT after service for the congregation.

Car Park Duties - Please report at 1.00pm
Brandon, Andrew and David Chin will man the carpark. I will try and make transport arrangements for those in charge of the car park.

A meeting to explain the duties in detail by the official organisers. Time is 7pm at the Rock Auditorium. We all shall try to be seated in one area. Lily will also be giving out the T-shirts for this event. Soooo exciting! : ).

Form a "human barricade" for the parade floats. Lily would need most of the guys for this event. Reporting time is 4pm, Orchard MRT. Those who are going can opt to go for 2nd service that day. David (Lim) can help to reserve seats if you want to. More details and confirmations on Dec 14's meeting.
